Values

Marinova is committed to leading the world in the development and production of high-purity fucoidan extracts for use in a range of human health settings. We continually strive for excellence in our scientific endeavours and – at all times – aspire to adopt the highest ethical standards.

We actively promote and uphold the principles of integrity and honesty in all of our dealings and throughout all facets of our operations. We take pride in our commitment to preserving the marine environment and the contributions that we make to the communities in which we operate. Marinova recognizes that an unswerving dedication to environmental sustainability and community involvement is required to provide future generations with the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from all that nature has to offer.

Environmental Sustainability

Our devotion to environmental sustainability can be evidenced across all aspects of our business. Marinova’s seaweed harvesting operations in Australia are conducted in accordance with world’s best practice and we refrain from utilising macro algae grown in those parts of the world where water quality and environmentally-sustainable harvesting practices cannot be assured.

We take our corporate responsibilities very seriously and the company is regularly recognized for its commitment to improving the environment in which we live. Marinova is an accredited participant in the Greenhouse Challenge Program implemented by the Australian Government and the company was recently awarded CleanBiz funding by the State Government of Tasmania.

Our unique Maritech® extraction technology does not require the use of solvents or other chemicals which are harmful to the environment. Further, since establishing our world-class extraction facility in 2006, Marinova has succeeded in diverting virtually all of its by-products of production away from unproductive landfill and converting them into nutrient-rich, organic additives for the horticultural sector.

Community Involvement

As a company, we’re passionate about supporting the communities in which we operate. Marinova supports employment in regional and disadvantaged communities both in Australia and overseas. Our utilisation and management of wild seaweed resources has resulted in new employment as well as vocational education and training in not only Tasmania but also in small communities as far a field as the Pacific Islands and Patagonia.

Marinova is committed to the furthering of science, particularly in the area of human health and disease. The company contributes to a variety of educational programs and has recently established a six-year scholarship program with a view to encouraging high school students to pursue a tertiary education in science.

Our scientists are vocal advocates of marine biotechnology and particularly the potential for fucoidan extracts to combat human afflictions and diseases. Marinova’s staff regularly give their time to schools and universities, presenting on topics as diverse as the role played by macro algae in maintaining ocean bio-diversity through to fucoidan uptake in human serum and the potential for fucoidan to be used as a complementary therapy in the treatment of cancer.
