The 24th International Seaweed Symposium is currently underway in Hobart, Tasmania. The event has attracted more than 500 delegates from across the globe, with an additional 200 participants contributing online.

The theme of this year’s symposium is ‘Seaweeds in a changing world.’ The theme reflects ongoing changes in seaweed aquaculture practices, industrial processing, future products and markets, local and global environmental change, and the scientific advances that will change our understanding of seaweeds for the future. A full program spanning seven days has delegates choosing between more than 300 presentations and viewing more than 130 posters.

Marinova is a sponsor of the event and is pleased to have three members presenting recent research.

“Tasmania is a hotspot for innovative marine science, hence this year’s location has been readily embraced by delegates,” commented Marinova’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Amanda Mackinnon. “It has been a pleasure to welcome so many of Marinova’s global connections to our home city. The sharing of knowledge is always fruitful, and it has been rewarding to provide guests with the opportunity to explore our remarkable coastline firsthand.”
